Chartered Landscape Architect position

Salary:  £34723-37261 per annum

The Design & Development Team in Halton Borough Council’s Environment Services Division, provides a full landscape design and advice service working with all Council departments. The team leads the Council’s commitment to good environmental design and is at the forefront of shaping the Borough’s natural and built environment.  The Design & Development Team has a proven track record in delivering a wide range of highly successfully projects over the past 15 years, including 3 Heritage Lottery funded Park restoration schemes, a range of artwork, memorial restorations, a new cemetery and a new urban piazza. The Team works closely with the operational management team that care for the public realm and this offers the opportunity to continue involvement with the long term landscape management of projects as they mature and develop.

The Design & Development Team are looking for an enthusiastic Landscape Architect to join the Team. The successful candidate will be working on a range of large and small scale schemes in the Borough’s parks, woodlands, canals, and town centres. The post holder will provide a landscape design service and champion the importance of strong environmental design with colleagues and stakeholders alike.

The team have an upcoming portfolio of Work in excess of £3-£4m/year and is directly involved with bidding for external grants. The post holder will not only take projects from inception to completion working with a wide range of stakeholders, but also guide plans through Council processes, in order to deliver high quality sustainable landscapes for the residents of Halton.

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Landscape Architect with post professional membership experience covering a broad range of projects. You will be able to work unsupervised to a high level in order to successfully deliver complex schemes on programme and to budget.  The post holder will demonstrate good people skills and an ability to work in a team as required. The post holder will also be able to communicate their ideas to a broad audience and be capable of skilled negotiation in order to promote and implement good landscape design practice.
