About the Environment Agency
If you’re part of the Environment Agency, you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment for generations to come, tackling issues of national importance across a huge variety of disciplines. Our responsibilities span major industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation. Such a broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams and exceptional leadership: together, we’ll promote sustainable growth, tackle climate change and secure a better future for everyone.
Your role with us
Working at the heart of our National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) team, you’ll be the landscape architect who ensures our projects are fit for purpose.
It is no small task. Between 2021 and 2027, the UK government will invest £5.2 billion in reducing the risks of flooding and coastal erosion. You will be the technical authority for both colleagues and our partners and play a key role in obtaining consents and securing mitigation approaches. More broadly, your guidance will reduce the risk of flooding for homes and businesses and ensure positive outcomes for the landscape.
Throughout, there’ll also be a focus on Natural Flood Management, Carbon Reduction and creating new wildlife habitats that can sequester Carbon. It is ultimately an opportunity to champion the environment while protecting both people and wildlife.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll ideally be PRINCE2-qualified with a relevant degree and experience of flood and coastal risk management.
However, it is your background in green landscape planning and infrastructure that will set you apart. With Chartered Member of the landscape Institute status, this could be the perfect move into an area of increasing importance to communities across the UK.
Your benefits with us
You will benefit from a culture that embraces difference and includes everyone where you will feel supported and trusted to do the right thing. We will invest in you and allow you to grow and shape your career. What’s more, you’ll have access to our great benefits package including generous annual leave, an excellent pension, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to be part of a variety of staff networks.
We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. To achieve this, we welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation and religion. We also welcome applications for flexible working patterns.
