Would you like to use your skills and experience to benefit a deprived community and leave a positive legacy through your work while working in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales?

Derbyshire Dales District Council is proud to be working in partnership with local residents to support the regeneration of the Hurst Farm estate in Matlock.

We have an exciting opportunity for a landscape architect – initially to support the delivery of a fully funded £1.2m project to create a Heritage Trail right around the estate.  The post will be responsible for the delivery of the capital works on the trail, including detailed design, tendering and contract management.

The Heritage Trail project is part of a larger ambitious regeneration vision, which has already seen the creation of a modern community hub for the estate, hosting a community-owned pub, food pantry and café.

You will also support the continuing development and implementation of the wider Hurst Farm regeneration vision, including the creation of community green spaces, woodlands and infrastructure improvements.  This includes designing a community garden to enable local food, tree and flower growing, as well as natural play, habitat and wildlife improvements.

Activities on the estate are led by a number of social enterprises, which you will work with – developing designs & assisting with funding bids. Our total programme is now approaching £3.5m, with plans for bringing in a further £2m of projects – all providing a great opportunity for the right person to utilise their skills to work as a community landscape architect, making a real & measurable difference to local people.

We are interested in recruiting a creative and entrepreneurial person, who is interested in empowering communities to collaboratively deliver social change and long term sustainability.

You will be part of a small and friendly team based at the Town Hall in Matlock, which is the gateway to the Peak District National Park and located within the Derbyshire Dales.

We can offer you excellent employment benefits including access to membership of the Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme, free car parking, leisure discounts, a generous annual leave entitlement and offer flexible and hybrid office / home working arrangements.

To apply please tell us within the application form why you would like to be considered for this post and how your skills fit the requirements detailed on the Job Description / Person Specification.
