Salary Range: £37,300-41,100

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: London office

 

Job purpose

Working across 3 main product areas namely Major and CPD Events, Print Media (LI Journal) and Online Media to develop long term existing business relationships with advertisers, key accounts and sponsors nationally, to deliver regular and effective account management meetings and increase revenues through a multi-product portfolio.

Other duties include responding to incoming enquiries, understanding customer and prospects needs, winning and developing new accounts and creating the opportunity for new revenue streams.

You will need to attend client and prospect meetings across the UK but you will be based in the Central London office predominantly. Your clients will be LI members, registered practices, manufacturers and suppliers from the built environment sector and beyond.

The holder of this role will report to the Commercial Director and work closely with the Membership Development Manager, Events team and Marketing Team to ensure successful development of key accounts and development of new sponsor opportunities.

 

Key responsibilities

Working with the Commercial Director, Editor of the journal and wider teams you will:

  • Creatively identify opportunities and develop new proposals/partnerships in-line with new business opportunities that draw from LI’s core strengths and business plan.
  • Actively engage with and demonstrate an interest in the work and mission of the Landscape Institute.
  • Support and collaborate with the LI team across various programmes and events where necessary.
  • Contribute to the overall curation of LI and its corporate strategy programmes, proposing ideas, speaking on behalf of the charity and actively contributing to the development of the charity’s operations.
  • Take an active role in improving LI on behalf of the staff who work there and the audience it serves.

 

Business Development – Sponsorship, Competitions and the Landscape Journal

  • Hit income targets for sponsorship, competition, and journal income
  • Manage sales pipeline and develop existing relationships with Sponsors, Advertisers and Partners
  • Negotiate and establish new sponsor and advertiser relationships
  • Develop affinity product offering to improve the member value proposition
  • Attend events and engage in various new business development activities to achieve new account acquisition targets
  • Create and deliver strategic growth plans for key accounts
  • Support the development of the competition offering
  • Produce reports and accurate income forecasts
  • Support the development of process and structure – Org Assessment Technology
  • Run and administer mapping process across organisations and link to CRM
  • Implement CRM process and align with other processes
  • Attend business development meetings fortnightly
  • Report business development activities
  • Support project management of competitions
  • Create compelling presentations

Partnership Development

  • Support the Senior Leadership Team to facilitate beneficial partnerships for the LI Members across Affinity schemes, LI Campus and relevant other Member Bodies and organisations to support LI Membership uptake.
  • Support the Events Marketing Manager to obtain media partners for LI Events and Products.

 

Person specification

Essential Criteria

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business-to-business commercial sales with track record of hitting income targets
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Account Management and developing long lasting commercial relationships with track records of high clients retention ration

  • Educated to degree level or higher

  • Excellent IT skills, including CRM, Sharepoint and MS Office suite
