Culture Sport & Tourism – Landscape Design Team 

Rotherham is undergoing a period of Transformation and investment, including the recent transformation of Forge Island and other Town Centre Public Realm projects funded in part by Towns Fund, Future High Streets Fund and Transforming Cities Fund. In addition, the Council’s own Capital investment via £2m Our Places Fund will see future investment in key gateway locations across the borough.

Significant investment of £2m in Play Areas is also planned over the next three years. To support us in the delivery of this we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Career Grade Landscape Architect to work within the Council’s long established Landscape Design Team.

This offers a great opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners on the design and implementation of a wide range of projects, from large-scale Play investment to Public Realm and Environmental Improvement projects, new schools, parks masterplans and housing regeneration schemes. Our ideal candidate would be a graduate of a Landscape Institute accredited Postgraduate course with experience of working in a landscape or multi-disciplinary practice and looking to further their career as a Landscape Architect.  You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have strong communication skills, and excellent design, graphic presentation, and CAD skills.

Travel – This post involves travel around the Borough on a weekly basis [for which an appropriate subsistence or mileage allowance is payable].

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
